SOE MIN & MELISSA MIN
FOUNDERS
Soe and Melissa share a deep passion for sushi. They reside in Randolph, Massachusetts where they enjoy time with their two kids and four dogs. The duo has also lived in multiple cities across the US, before bringing Mike’s Fresh Sushi to the Greater Boston area.
Soe Min (SUSHI GUY)
Originally from Yangon, Myanmar, Soe came to the United States in 1996. Determine to be successful, Soe ventured into the Chinese cooking scene and took a liking to the restaurant and food business. In the late 90’s, when sushi was growing as a trend, Soe took a job with a Japanese company to learn the trade of sushi making.
By 1998, Soe was hired by AFC Sushi, and worked his way up to sushi chef and kitchen supervisor. Within two years, he had experience working for two major sushi companies, including AFC and ACE Sushi, and worked the corporate ladder to Regional Manager/Supervisor, overseeing more than 100 Sushi Bars across the US. As a Regional Manager, Soe trained sushi chefs and open sushi bars in grocery chains across the country.
In 2008, Soe left the corporate world to launch Mike’s Fresh Sushi.
Melissa Min
Melissa is originally from Albuquerque, New Mexico.
She knows a lot about hard work and a strong work ethic to bring success. After obtaining her associate’s degree in business law, Melissa pursued Business and Marketing School at the University of New Mexico. That’s where she met Soe and the two eventually married. Through it all, Melissa always had a passion for cooking. She even mastered Soe’s traditional Myanmar dishes! With a desire to extend her business and cooking skills, Melissa open a sushi franchise with AFC sushi, which she managed from 2003 to 2008. Since then, she has learned sushi culinary skills from Sushi Guy Mike, her partner in life and business. From the beginning, Melissa has used her razor-sharp management skills to keep Mike’s Fresh Sushi running smoothly, and growing.
